Field post Sliedrecht.
Although there is a separate page for military field mail, a large batch of field correspondence has recently been added to the collection of a soldier from Sliedrecht. The soldier served in the 3rd Border Battalion. Since we were able to add multiple field postcards from this individual to the collection, they will have their own page under the Field Postcards tab.
Field mail from a military person in Sliedrecht - March 10, 1940.
The above field postcard is from a soldier of the 2nd Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Border Battalion, who is writing to his family in Sliedrecht. The card was written on March 10, 1940 (2 months before the German invasion) and sent from Roosendaal to Sliedrecht on March 11. The soldier writes:
"Dear parents,
I want to let you know that everything is still going excellently for me. If all goes well, I will be coming home next Wednesday. How is everything going with all of you? Is everyone feeling better now? I hope everything is improving. I have no further news. Greetings to everyone from your son and brother. Henk! Goodbye!

Field mail from a military person in Sliedrecht - winter 1940.
The above field postcard is not dated. However, it was written in 1940, and based on the mention of snow, it is likely written in the winter of 1940. The card is addressed to someone named Kees. It says:
"Dear Kees, I received your card, thank you for that. It was nice to hear from you again. How is the ice skating going? Did it snow at your place too? I'm still doing great, and I heard the same about all of you, so that's good. Greetings to everyone from your brother Henk!
Goodbye!

Field mail from a military person in Sliedrecht - February 25, 1940.
The above field postcard is dated February 25, 1940 and is also addressed to family in Sliedrecht.
The soldier writes: "Dear Guntje(?), I'm still doing great and I hope you are too. I'm on guard duty for one week now, so naturally, I can't go on leave on Thursday, but I will try to come home on Saturday. Greetings, Henk! Pvt. Soldier H.J. 2-2-3 GB Field Post 10."
Field mail from a military person in Sliedrecht - June 7, 1939.
The above field postcard is dated June 7, 1939 and addressed to family in Sliedrecht. The soldier writes:
"Dear Fathers, I want to let you know that I have arrived safely. Everything is still going well. I did write a letter, but I don't have any news, so I thought I would just send a postcard in the hope that it's also okay. Greetings to everyone, your son and brother Henk. H.J. de Jager 2-2-3 G.B. Room 18 Territorial Command Area Commander N.B."
